What to check when the bot does not arrive, when it is there but silent, when only some messages get read, and when the web chat will not let you post.

Can I use it with a private account?
Yes, but Comeyomi needs to be following you first. X does not let the bot reach a Space hosted by a private account otherwise.
The follow comes with membership. If your account is private, a follow request arrives — accept it before starting the Space. Public accounts work without any of this.
The bot has not arrived
Check that you replied to the post attached to the Space and mentioned @comeyomi. Arriving can take about a minute, so if you just posted, wait a little.
Only the host or a co-host can summon it. If you were named co-host, make sure you accepted the invitation — until you do, your permissions are still those of a speaker.
It is in the Space but says nothing
First, check that the host approved the speaker request. The bot speaks only once approved. The web chat shows its state as listener, awaiting speaker, or speaker.
Then open the settings at the top of the chat and check the reading mode. "SE" plays sounds without speaking the text; "Off" stops the sounds as well. Set it to "Full", then send a short new message — testing with something new works better than waiting on older posts.
Reading is delayed, or starts partway through
Comments are queued and read in order. When the queue fills, older ordinary comments may be dropped. Not every message is guaranteed to be read to the end.
Very long messages are skipped, and so are messages detected as repeats from the same person. Rather than posting the same thing again, check that the mode is "Full" and that the bot is a speaker.
If the pace is hard to follow, adjust the reading speed in the settings.
Something appeared in the chat but was not read
That can happen. Appearing in the chat and being read aloud are handled separately.
Older replies that arrive late as a batch are shown but not read. The same goes for comments received while the mode was off, and for anything judged a repeat.
The bot does not go back and read the backlog. To test, use a short new message after it has become a speaker.
Why is a URL not read out?
That is deliberate. Links beginning with http or https are replaced with a short spoken marker rather than spelled out character by character, so a long address does not take over the audio.
The bot does not open links or read the page behind them. When you share something, describe it in the text — "here is today's reference" — so listeners know what it is.
Are names and mentions read?
Ordinary comments are read as text only, without prepending the author's name, and @usernames inside the text are removed.
This means a message containing only a mention is not useful for testing the audio.
Join and speaker-request announcements do include names. Those are handled differently from ordinary comments.
How do I stop the reading, or keep only the sounds?
In the Space's web chat, open the settings and set the reading mode to "Off" or "SE".
"SE" replaces spoken text with a notification tone while still playing matching sound effects. For silence, choose "Off".
Switching to "Off" also stops audio that is already playing. Switching back to "Full" does not replay what arrived meanwhile.
The reaction sounds are too loud
Effect volume is a separate setting from speech volume, so turning the speech down will not help.
In the settings panel, lower effect volume — it runs from 0% to 200% with a default of 70%. This is usually what feels loud once a Space gets busy, and lowering it lets you keep the reading.
I cannot find the settings
The settings button appears for accounts with control of that Space. Even if you think of yourself as the host, check which X account you are signed in with and that you have the right Space's chat open. Ended Spaces do not show it.
Volume and speed cannot be adjusted while the mode is "Off". If the panel opens but the sliders do not respond, check the mode first.
I cannot post in the web chat, or send a heart
Both require signing in with X. If you see "Sign in with X", start there.
A page saying the Space has ended will not accept new posts. If you get a message about the link being wrong or old, check the chat URL the host shared — it is easy to have an earlier broadcast open.
Some reactions make no sound
Only reactions with a matching sound effect play one. Reactions without one are silent, and they are never read out as words. While the mode is "Off", nothing plays at all.
The heart in the web chat is a reaction shown inside the chat. It is not an X Spaces reaction, so do not use it to test the effect sounds.
Join announcements are late, or missing on rejoin
Detection happens through participant checks, so joining and the announcement are not always simultaneous. Repeat announcements for the same person are suppressed, so rejoining does not always produce one.
Do not use the announcements alone to judge whether someone joined — check X as well. In "SE" and "Off" modes, the spoken announcements are not heard either.
Which voice does it use?
Speech synthesis uses VOICEVOX. The default is Zundamon. If a participant has set a personal voice, that takes precedence over the Space default.
The synthesiser is Japanese. English text is read with Japanese phonetics, which is understandable in short bursts and awkward in full sentences.

It helps to include the Space, roughly when it happened, the bot's displayed state, the reading mode you had selected, and whether the message appeared in the chat at all.
Saying which of these it was also narrows it down quickly: the bot never joined, it joined but never spoke, or it speaks but skips particular messages.
