Comeyomi — a bot that reads X Spaces replies aloud
Comeyomi joins an X Space as a speaker and reads the replies aloud, so the host can keep talking without watching the screen. Here is what it does, how to summon it, and what to expect.

Hosting an X Space means choosing between two things. Look at the screen and the conversation stops. Keep talking and you miss the comments.
Comeyomi moves one of those to your ears. It joins the Space as a speaker and reads the replies aloud, so you can hear what people are saying while you keep talking. It is free to use.
What it actually does
Reply to the post attached to your Space, mentioning @comeyomi. The bot joins as a speaker, waits for the host to approve its speaker request, and then starts reading.
From that point:
- Replies to the Space's post are read aloud
- Messages typed in the web chat are read aloud too
- New listeners and speaker requests are announced by name
- Some X Spaces reactions play a sound effect instead of being read out
How much of that you hear is up to the host. You can have everything read, or only the sounds, or nothing at all, and switch between them during the Space.
An important caveat about the voice
The speech is Japanese. Comeyomi uses VOICEVOX, a Japanese speech synthesiser, so it pronounces text with Japanese phonetics.
Japanese comments sound natural. English comments will be read, but pronounced as though the letters were Japanese — understandable in short bursts, awkward for full sentences. There is no English voice.
If you run an English-language Space, this is probably not the tool for you yet. If you run a Japanese Space, or a bilingual one where the comments are mostly Japanese, it works well.
We would rather tell you this up front than have you find out mid-broadcast.
Getting started
- Reply to the post attached to your Space, mentioning
@comeyomi - Wait — arriving can take up to a minute
- Approve the speaker request as host
- Send a short message to check it sounds right
Only the host or a co-host can summon the bot. If you are a listener or a speaker, ask the host to do it.
A link to the Space's web chat arrives as a reply. Open it to change settings, or to post messages that get read aloud without going to X.

What you can control
The host decides how loud and how much.

"SE" is not a quiet mode — it still plays sounds. Choose "Off" for silence.
Reading speed, speech volume and effect volume are separate settings. If the reaction sounds feel loud in a busy Space, turn down the effect volume rather than the speech.
There is also a conversation wait: while someone is speaking, the bot holds the reading and starts once the room goes quiet. It can be on, off, or automatic.
Commands
Typing a message starting with ! in the web chat controls the bot. You can change your own voice, roll dice, set a timer, or make it sing a short melody.

Who runs this
Comeyomi is operated by KOOFFICE, Inc., a company in Chiba, Japan. It started as an unofficial bot for POPOPO, a voice-based social network that ran for six months in 2026, and moved to X Spaces after that service closed.
